CLARE’S economy is set to benefit to the tune of €1 million this weekend as the county hosts the Féile na nGael national festival of U-14 hurling, camogie and handball.
Thirty-six hurling, 28 camogie and over 50 handball teams will visit the county for the weekend.
Competitions will commence this Friday afternoon and will continue throughout Saturday, with the finals taking place on Sunday at Cusack Park. Admission will be free to these games.
One of the highlights will be on Friday evening, when all teams, visitors and hosts will take part in the parade through the streets of Ennis.
Led by the Artane Band, the parade will leave Cusack Park at 7pm and proceed through the streets.
Six months of planning has gone into the event, which is back in Clare for the first time in 24 years.
Clare previously hosted this festival in 1986 and 1987.
