Woman dead, man arrested following Clare crash

A WOMAN in her 30s has died following a single vehicle road traffic collision in west Clare on Saturday evening. A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene and is currently being detained at Ennis Garda Station. Gardaí are investigating the incident that occurred at approximately 6:40pm on Saturday, at Lahinch and the scene is currently preserved for technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place. A female passenger of the car involved, aged in her 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene. No other serious injuries to persons was reported. Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí. Man dies in Ennis crash

One of the two people injured in the road traffic collision which occurred at Cahercallamore, Ennis yesterday afternoon has died in hospital from his injuries. A male rear passenger in his early 80s was removed to Limerick University Hospital with serious injuries and passed away later.  The female driver and front seat passenger were also treated at Limerick University Hospital with non life threatening injuries. In the second car both the male driver and female passenger were uninjured. The scene was preserved and Garda forensic collision investigators have completed their examination. The road was closed and has since reopened. Gardaí at Ennis are appealing for any witnesses to this road traffic collision to come forward, particularly any motorists who were travelling in the area at the time and may have dash cam footage. Motorcyclist fatally injured in Kilrush crash

A Dublin man who was taking part in a motorbike rally which he helped  organize for Down Syndrome Ireland died in a motorcycle crash near Kilrush yesterday. Aidan Lynam, a 44 year-old father of three from Lucan,  had helped collect more than a €1million for the charity. The fatal crash occurred outside Kilkee on the Kilrush Road at approximately 11.45am. Mr Lynam was airlifted to University Hospital Limerick where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the car was uninjured. The stretch of road was closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Witnesses are asked to contact Kilrush Garda Station on 065- 9080550.
