Burst water main leaves some Ennis homes without water

Uisce Éireann is working to restore water supply to customers in parts of Ennis following a burst this morning. Efforts are being made to maintain water supply to as many customers as possible, but the burst, which occurred early this morning, is impacting some customers in the Lifford Road and Tulla Road areas of Ennis. Repair works are progressing and are estimated to be completed by 5pm this evening, however, it may take a number of hours following repairs for normal water supply to return to all customers, especially for those on higher ground or at the end of the network. As per best practice, most homes and businesses will have on-site water storage to provide a backup source of water for sanitation purposes. “The repairs are being conducted as quickly and as efficiently as possible to minimise disruption and restore the water supply to homes and businesses. Water outages in North and East Clare

Hundreds of household across North and East Clare are still without water following separate incidents this week. Clare’s water infrastructure has taken a battering in recent days with a number of issues reported across the county in the wake of Storms Isha and Jocelyn. Uisce Éireann have reported disruption to customers supplied by O’Briensbridge Water Treatment Plant in East Clare and the Ballymacraven Water Treatment Plant in North Clare, both as a result of burst water mains. Meanwhile, the service in the Miltown and Quilty area of West Clare should be back to normal today following an issue at Old Doolough Water Treatment Plant. Uisce Éireann says that dedicated water service crews are carrying out repairs to restore normal water supply as quickly as possible to customers in O’Briensbridge, Montpellier, Bridgetown and surrounding areas as well as to customers in Kilfenora, Lisdoonvarna, Fanore, Doolin and Ballyvaughan. Water outages in Miltown Malbay

Irish Water and Clare County Council are working to restore water supply to Miltown Malbay and surrounding areas following a burst water main this morning.  Customers in Milltown Malbay, Annagh, Poulawillin, Knockloskeraun, Spanish Point, Rineen, Kilfarboy, Ballyvaskin, Toureen, Ballard and surrounding areas may experience low water pressure, discolouration and/or outages. It is expected that the repairs will be completed by 6pm today. However it may take a number of hours for normal water supply to fully return to all affected properties. “We understand the inconvenience when a burst occurs and thanks customers for their patience while we work to repair the burst and restore normal supply to impacted customers. Water Mains Burst in Killaloe

Clare County Council is advising the public that due to a water mains break in Killaloe a number of areas will experience loss of supply and poor water pressure. These include: Hill Road; Ballyvalley; Creeveroe; and Knockyclovaun. Clare County Council are currently carrying out repair work and water supplies will be restored as soon as possible.   By Carol Byrne

Motorists urged to avoid Corbally Road due to mains repairs

HOUSEHOLDS in South East Clare remain without water as Irish Water carry out essential works to repair a burst water main which has affected the water supply in the Shannon Banks, Westbury and Ardnacrusha area. The local authority is now advising motorists of traffic congestion due to the unplanned works being undertaken by Irish Water to resolve the issue. Homes and businesses in the locality were affected by disruptions to their water supply and reduced water pressure on the Mill Road, Corbally Road, Irish Estates, Shannon Banks, Westbury and outwards to Barrys Cross and surrounding areas. Works have an estimated completion time of 2pm. However this afternoon Limerick City and County Council said that water is not expected to return to the area until 7pm this Tuesday evening. The local authority is also advising motorists to avoid the Corbally Road and to use the R464 through the Long Pavement and Parteen as severe traffic congestion is expected on this road …
