Young musical talent on display at Feis

THE Inis Cathaigh Feis Cheoil was held last Saturday in Kilrush. More than 300 children took part in competitions that catered for all traditional music instruments from under six to 16. Singing and sean-nós dancing competitions were also held.

The Tom Rynne Memorial Shield for accordion went to Davan Livingstone of Lissycasey.

The Mich Eustace Memorial Shield for fiddle, Peadar Crotty Memorial Shield for slow air and Inis Cathaigh Shield for tin whistle were all won by Cian O’Conghaile from Limerick.

The Elizabeth Crotty Memorial Shield for concertina went to Colm Browne, Cree, while the PJ Crotty Memorial Shield for flute went to Gavin Hickey from Ardnacrusha.

The Peig Martin Shield for singing was won by Caoimhe Keane from Kilclogher, Cross.

The overall champion of the feis and winner of the Kilrush Credit Union Shield was Davan Livingstone.
