Website showcase for creative jobseekers

The Western Development Commission (WDC) has recently launched MyCreativeEdge – The Creative Showcase for Europe’s Northern Edge’, a new website showcasing the creative work of businesses, freelancers and jobseekers from the West of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Sweden and Finland.

The website, www.mycreativeedge.eu, highlights that the creative sector in the West of Ireland has the potential to generate an estimated €338m in sales by 2020.
Among those who’ve joined already is trans-disciplinary artist Maria Kerin from Ennistymon.

“From my studio in Monreal North, Ennistymon I combine my process-based visual art practice with embodied movement through dance to create installations, performances and new media body works. I’m currently working with artists in Moks, Estonia and Greece and am involved in four European partnership projects this year. Having my profile on MyCreativeEdge will allow me to connect with artists from across northern Europe, which is vital to my practice and that of the other members of the

Outrider Artists group here in Clare,” Maria said.

“On MyCreativeEdge, people working or looking for work in the creative sector in the West of Ireland can showcase their creativity in a highly visual way. They can create their own profile page which has a slideshow of images and videos of their creative work at its heart. And there’s no cost involved,” Paddy McGuinness, WDC chairperson said.

The website is also aimed at helping to increase exports from creative businesses, which will help sustain and create jobs across the region.
