“During our visit we saw some of the wonderful sites of natural beauty in County Clare and enjoyed the great friendliness of its people.
“I hope that Ireland and Korea can continue to strengthen its ties of friendship and develop new economic bonds in the years to come,” the ambassador said of his visit.
Deputy Breen outlined the benefits of developing dialogue between the two countries and noted this visit would be the start of a process of identifying areas of common interest.
Korea is one of the few countries that has been able to escape the ravages of the world recession, ensuring that average incomes and employment have been maintained.
Over three million Koreans visit Europe every year and this is expected to increase in the near future.
“Clare can be a great destination for this market due to its natural beauty, historical sites and world-famous golf courses,” said the ambassador.
The ambassador visited Bunratty Castle and Folk Park.
He then hosted a lunch in Dromoland Castle, where he met with John Quinlivan from Shannon Development and John Dillane of Ennis Chamber.
In addition to visiting the Burren Centre at Kilfenora, Mayor of Clare, Councillor, Christy Curtin welcomed him to the Cliffs of Moher and invited the ambassador to address the councillors in the immediate future.
