U-16 championship continues


ÉIRE Óg won their first game of the U-16A championship when they comprehensively defeated Ennistymon 4-12 to 0-6 in their return game. A week earlier, Ennistymon had beaten the Ennis team.

Photography by John KellyLissycasey beat Wolfe Tones for the second time inside a week, winning 3-17 to 1-5. Ironically, Lissycasey scored the same total against the Shannon team in the first game as well. Meanwhile, in Division 2, St Joseph’s Doora-Barefield drew 3-5 to 4-2 with Corofin in a very exciting game in Gurteen. St Joseph’s recorded a win over Clondegad in their first game so now have three points in Division 2, while Corofin have one, as their first game against Clarecastle was abandoned due to a player picking up an injury. In the same group, Clarecastle defeated Newmarket 4-6 to 1-2, while Clondegad beat Cratloe 3-8 to 3-1.
Elsewhere in Division 2 last weekend Miltown beat Kilrush 3-10 to 3-9, while St Breckan’s easily defeated Kilmurry Ibrickane 2-12 to 0-6.
In the Division 3 championship, Shannon Gaels/Killimer beat Kilkee 3-16 to 1-2, while Naomh Eoin /O’Curry’s defeated Clooney-Quin 2-12 to 2-2. In an exciting Division 3 game, Coolmeen-Kildysart beat Doonbeg 4-10 to 2-8.
The next round of the U-16 football championship will be played on Saturday, March 24.
