The future’s bright, the future’s Orange

CLARE musician Mark James has released the four track EP Scream Orange Sky. The 25-year-old from Moyasta, who currently resides in Galway, has been busy on the live scene over the past few years playing support to acts such as The Stunning and appearing at festivals such as Body and Soul and Knockanstock.
The EP has been released as a digital downloand and on a limited number of hard copies. A past pupil of the esteemed Rock School in Ballyfermot, Mark went to the Larangmore Hills of Foxford in County Mayo to work on his music.
Mark is also known for his performance slam poetry and was one of the winners of the recent Galway Grand Slam. He is due to have his poems published in an upcoming collection. Currently studying arts in NUIG, he also facilitates a song-writing workshop he is busy acting with the drama soc and is the co-host of a popular experimental hip-hop radio show on Galway’s Flirt FM.
According to Mark the songs featuring on the current release are not easily defined or classified, with each song taking a different direction.
The opener, Something is Gonna Come Of It, is an upbeat jingly affair with a country motown swing. The second track Unmistakable is a more down tempo acoustic offering with an RnB twist. The third track Shadowboxer is a more aggressive hip hop fused rock number and the fourth track Music to Murder By, is an atmospheric contribution with layers of strings and backing vocals, both provided by Clodagh Kerley.
All tracks were engineered and mixed by Ross Martin at Westland and mastered by Richard Dowling at Wav Mastering, Limerick.
To launch the EP, Mark will be playing at a number of gigs throughout the country, dates of which will be posted on his myspace, where the tracks are also available for streaming. Check www.myspace.com/itsmemarkjames.
