East Clare fiddler Martin Hayes, will perform in Teach Cheoil, Kilrush this Saturday night as part of Ceol Meabhair, which is the first Clare Memory Orchestra Festival.

He will perform with guitarist Dave Flynn and members of the Clare Memory Orchestra a group Flynn has founded featuring traditional and classical musicians who play without sheet music on stage.

Half of the orchestra were showcased last Saturday night in Ennistymon, with the other half performing in this Kilrush concert. The orchestra features some of Ireland’s most talented musicians. Performing in Kilrush will be Mick O’Brien (uilleann pipes) and his talented family, Aoife (fiddle), Ciara (viola) and Cormac (cello) from Dublin.

Adrian Hart, fiddler with the band I Draw Slow performed at the sell-out Doolin Folk Festival recently, Belfast flute player Aisling Agnew, Clare resident oboist and whistle player, Etain McCooey and Limerick’s Billy Mag Fhloinn playing rare Irish bronze age horns. South African conductor Bjorn Bantock brings the mix of music and instruments together.

Martin Hayes is well known for his specific blend of music. Repertoire for Saturday night’s concert includes new orchestrations by Flynn of music Hayes & Dennis Cahill originally toured with the Irish Chamber Orchestra in 2011. Tickets are available from the Cultúrlann Sweeney in Kilkee or can be purchased at the door on the night of the concert.
