Moylussa climb for new Raheen Hospital bus this Saturday

THE contribution of the late William McLysaght to the state-of-the-art facilities at Raheen Community Hospital will be remembered in a fundraising climb of Moylussa on Saturday, January 14.  Mr McLysaght was co-founder of Raheen Hospital Support Group and passed away in May of last year. His efforts, combined with those of a dedicated committee, facilitated significant development and expansion of the HSE-run hosptial, which will shortly unveil a new extension and kitchen facilities.  As well as paying tribute to Mr McLysaght, the aim of the fundraising climb is to secure services for those who attend the day centre in Raheen, through the purchase of a new mini-bus. The existing bus has been on the road for six years taking people from 17 villages and townlands to Raheen for a range of vital services, five-days-a-week. “After those years on the roads of East and South East Clare, from Flagmount down to O’Brien’s Bridge, the bus needs to be replaced,” explained Mary …

William’s role remembered as Clare hospital expansion continues

WARM tributes have been paid to the late William McLysaght, co-founder of the Raheen Hospital Support Group, as preparations get underway for the official launch of a new extension.  Last Wednesday, support group members, politicians and staff of Raheen Community Hospital were briefed on a Phase 2 extension, which contains six new bedrooms and other facilities. Contracts were also signed for works to upgrade kitchen facilities. These are set to get underway shortly.  Cathaoirleach of the Killaloe Municipal District, Councillor Joe Cooney said that Mr McLysaght, from Raheen, Tuamgraney, had been instrumental in developments at the community nursing unit.  “William did Trojan work for the support group and for the hospital,” he said. “All of the improvements couldn’t have been achieved without the support group or without William. William McLysaght’s ‘central role’ in East Clare life remembered

SYMPATHY has been extended to the family of the late William McLysaght, of Raheen, Tuamgraney, by members of the Killaloe Municipal District. When councillors gathered in Scariff for their May meeting, a motion of sympathy was proposed by Councillor Pat Hayes, who noted the hugely positive impact Mr McLysaght had had on the local area.  “William’s contribution was immense around East Clare,” Councillor Hayes said. “He played a central role in supporting Raheen Community Hospital. He had a central role going back the years to his father and grandfather who gave great employment in the area.” Cathaoirleach Councillor Joe Cooney seconded the motion. “William was a simply fantastic man for the entire East Clare area,” he said. “He was involved in a lot of different committees and we extend our sympathies to William’s wife Anna and their family.
