Clare unchanged for trip to Cork

By Seamus Hayes The Clare senior hurling management team has named the same fifteen as started last week against Galway for this Saturday evening’s round 2 Allianz league date with Cork at Pairc Ui Rinn. There is one personnel change, however, with Colm Galvin moved to midfield in a switch with Colin Ryan. Despite his impressive showing when introduced early in the second half in Galway, Cratloe’s Conor McGrath is again named amongst the substitutes David McInerney and Tony Kelly will again be absent due to hamstring injuries which also caused them to miss out on U.L.’s midweek Fitzgibbon cup quarter final win over UCD. Davy Fitzgerald and his selectors continue with the experiment of playing 2013 All-Ireland winning captain Pat Donnellan at wing forward and All star Brendan Bugler at midfield. Footballers unchanged for trip to Drogheda

By Seamus Hayes Clare senior football manager Colm Collins has named an unchanged team from that which defeated Wexford last week for Sunday’s clash with Louth at Drogheda in round two of the Allianz football league. Stephen Collins, a late replacement for Kevin Hartnett last week retains his place in the full back line. Hartnett from Meelick, who was due to play at full back, suffered an ankle injury in the warm up in Miltown. Collins came into the side at corner back with Dean Ryan switching to the full back position. Otherwise the team is unchanged and the expectation is that Podge Collins will be available this week. He missed last week’s game due to a hamstring strain suffered in a recent challenge game against Kerry. However, his Cratloe clubmate Cathal McInerney, will be out for a number of weeks due to a hamstring injury. Hopes that he could return to action this week were dashed following further treatment …

Unchanged Clare to face Kildare

By Seamus Hayes The Clare team to face Kildare in this Saturday’s qualifier championship round 2 game at Cusack Park is unchanged from the team which started against Carlow last week. Shane Hickey, injured early last week, is fit again and has been named at corner back with Dean Ryan, impressive when introduced in Carlow, dropping down to the substitutes bench. Team captain Gary Brennan will again lead the team from midfield where he will be partnered by Shane McGrath.  The Collins brothers, Sean and Podge, will play in the half forward line flanking Enda Coughlan while the experienced Rory Donnelly and David Tubridy will flank Shane Brennan in the full forward line.
