‘Paw’some pooch needed for opera production in UCH

Has your dog got star quality? If your pet pooch is something of a Brad Pitt-bull or a Sandra Bull-dog, then they could win a place in the spotlight in the beautiful and romantic opera La Bohème, coming to University Concert Hall on April 6, 2023. Award-winning opera director and producer Ellen Kent said, “People say never work with children or animals, but I love to do both. “The first time was 20 years ago when my pet cat Holly Go-Lightly was in one of my productions and was an instant hit. “Since then we’ve had horses, dogs, goldfish and even a golden eagle with a 6ft wingspan on stage. “Many years ago, when we last did La Bohème and asked local people to volunteer their pets it was a huge success. “We even used a rescue dog once and found him dozens of new owners! Auditions for children to ‘Hook’ a part in UCH Peter Pan panto

CLARE children who love to be in the spotlight could be in with a chance of performing in the ever popular panto in University Concert Hall, Limerick. This year’s Christmas show will be Peter Pan and auditions are being held for the children’s dance chorus along with the roles of John and Michael Darling. The University Concert Hall and Robert C Kelly Panto is now in its tenth year and has grown to become one of the most eagerly anticipated shows in the country. Johnny Ward, Fair City favourite and grand finalist of RTÉ’s 2019 Dancing with the Stars, will cast as the infamous Captain Hook in this year’s production. Clare fans urged to Banner Up for Copperface Jack’s: The Musical

CLARE fans planning on heading to Copper Face Jacks: The Musical at University Concert Hall Limerick are being urged to don the Saffron and Blue on opening night this week. UCH is encouraging the audience members to wear their county colours on Tuesday July 26 for the show starting at 8pm and with the production being in Limerick, fans of the All-Ireland champions will no doubt need little encouragement. “While much of our audience will be supporting the Limerick hurling team in the green and white, we are encouraging jerseys and county colours from every county,” said a spokesperson for UCH. They explained the storyline of the show, written by the renowned Paul Howard, lends itself to the GAA celebrations currently taking place. “This comedy musical is about love blossoming on the eve of a Dublin v Kerry All-Ireland Final, when a sweet Kerry girl ends up falling for the Captain of the Dublin football team in the famous Copper Face Jacks nightclub in Dublin.” …

UCH panto extended due to “overwhelming” demand

IRELAND’S only Irish Sign Language Interpreted pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk at UCH Limerick has been extended due to overwhelming public demand. The panto will now run until midnight on Sunday, January 10 with a choice of online streams with or without signing. With people watching everywhere from Panama to Portlaoise and Brisbane to Bantry, the UCH Panto has already been viewed thousands of times right across the world. Riches of Rice to showcase talents on TV3

MUSICIANS and dancers from Rice College in Ennis have made it to the finals of the All Ireland Schools Talent Search. Over 600 entries for this competition have been whittled down to the last ten, and “Riches of Rice” have made the final ten. According to a spokesperson for the school, “It’s a huge achievement in our school and we are extremely excited about this wonderful achievement.” The final takes place in the University of Limerick Concert Hall this Saturday. The twelve students, with their teachers, Ms Hanrahan and Ms Brooks have been diligently practising during the Easter holidays and are greatly looking forward to the final, which will be televised by TV3 and broadcast on Sunday May 4. The only Clare entry in the final, the Riches of Rice team will represent County Clare in true Clare style, with beautiful arrangements of traditional tunes, slip-jig and reel, with sean-nós dancing and soft and hard shoe step dancing.
