Christy’s exhibition is Toronto bound

Crusheen photographer and traditional musician Christy McNamara’s latest work will be the subject of an exhibition and a series of concerts in Toronto, Canada, from November 3 – 13. Christy has been capturing images of Ireland for over 20 years and his work has been widely exhibited and can be found in many collections, both public and private. The images featured in his latest exhibition are drawn from a larger body of work over the last three decades. ‘Where My Heart Lies’ celebrates and honours the rich legacy of music and music making in County Clare, in those who carried it and passed it on. The ‘Where My Heart Lies’ exhibition, which was hosted at glór in Ennis during Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, will be complemented by a number of concerts with Christy and Toronto musicians on the week of November 7-12 in Toronto’s Mirvish Village.

Flight diversion woman released from Garda care

AN 87 year old woman who was arrested following the diversion of a flight from Frankfurt to Toronto has been released from Garda care. It is understood that she spent a portion of last night at a local hotel and she is set to leave Ireland at some point today. Gardai don’t expect there will be any further action taken in relation to the matter. After having received reports of a disruptive passenger Gardai were on hand when the Air Canada flight on which she was travelling touched down at Shannon at around 8.20pm on Friday evening.

Canadian TV Show ‘The Travel Guy’ Films in Clare

Canadian TV personality and travel writer Frank Greco has been visiting Clare and Ireland, to film for his popular show ‘The Travel Guy’, as a guest of Tourism Ireland in Toronto. The special Ireland episode, which will be seen in millions of households in Canada and elsewhere around the world, will include footage of many of the county’s top visitor attractions – including the Cliffs of Moher, Loop Head Lighthouse, the Music Makers of West Clare in Miltown Malbay, and a traditional Irish music session at McGann’s Pub in Doolin.
