Revenue Seize Drugs Worth €94,000 at Shannon Airport

  REVENUE officers at Shannon Airport have seized in excess of 4.7kg of herbal cannabis as a result of routine operations. The illegal drugs have an estimated value of €94,000 and were discovered in a parcel originating from the United States of America. The parcel was declared as ‘business documents’ and was destined for an address in Dublin. Investigations are ongoing. This seizure is part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting the importation of illegal drugs. Gardai make seizure in Parteen

GARDAI have seized approximately €21,700 worth of cannabis, tobacco and cash following a search at a house in Parteen. Shortly before 8am on Saturday Detective Gardaí from Mayorstone Park and Henry Street Garda Stations, with assistance from the Armed Support Unit, executed a search warrant at a house in Parteen. During the course of the search Gardaí seized approximately €15,700 of suspected cannabis, €1,500 worth of tobacco and €4,500 in cash along with drug paraphernalia. The suspected cannabis will now be sent for analysis. No arrests have been made but Gardaí are following a definite line of enquiry.

Revenue seizes 18kgs of tobacco at Shannon Airport

Revenue has seized 18kgs of tobacco at Shannon Airport this Thursday morning. The seizure was made as a result of routine profiling when officers from Revenue’s Customs Services at Shannon Airport discovered 18kgs of roll your own tobacco with a retail value of approximately €7,000. The “Amber Leaf” tobacco was discovered in the luggage of an Irish male who had arrived on a flight from Tenerife. Investigations are ongoing and a file is being prepared with a view to a prosecution. The seizure represents a potential loss to the Exchequer of €5,800. This is assuming that it would have displaced the equivalent full tax paid quantity of cigarettes and tobacco. This seizure is part of Revenue’s on-going operations targeting the supply and sale of illegal cigarettes in the shadow economy. Fireworks Seized in Planned Garda Operation

Gardaí in Shannon have seized a large quantity of fireworks under Operation Tombola. The assortment of fireworks have an estimated street value of up to €2,000 and were discovered and seized as part of an intelligence-led operation. Gardaí from the Shannon Detective Unit carried out a planned search of a house in the Rossbracken Housing Estate in the town on Wednesday afternoon and uncovered the fireworks. No arrests have been made but the investigation is ongoing.

Revenue seize cigarettes at airport

IN a targeted operation on Monday, officers from Revenue’s Customs Service at Shannon Airport seized 70,000 cigarettes with a retail value of €33,600 and a potential loss to the Exchequer of €28,500. The Sept Wolves cigarettes were concealed in a shipment of electrical goods which had arrived via airfreight from China.  There was also a seizure of of the same cigarettes a couple of weeks ago.
