Ennis murder accused in isolation at Limerick prison

The 39 year- old man charged with the murder of Ennis man, Eoin Boylan is living in isolation at Limerick prison. Ennis District Court on Wednesday, a prison officer told the court via video-link that Nassar Ahmed of The Mews, Kilrush Road, Ennis was in isolation at Limerick prison and no reason was given. Mr  Ahmed first appeared before the court last Thursday charged with the murder of mature student, Eoin Boylan, (32), at Gordon Drive, Cloughleigh, Ennis on Tuesday, April 14 last. In court last Thursday, Mr Ahmed was remanded in custody to appear before Wednesday’s sitting of Ennis District Court via video link. Giving evidence of arrest, charge and caution last Thursday, Detective Garda Noelle Bergin told the court that she arrested Mr Ahmed for the purpose of charge at 23.45pm at Ennis Garda Station on Wednesday night, April 15. Accused of raping teenager 27 years ago

A 62-YEAR-old man has appeared in court charged with the rape, sexual assault and indecent assault of a young teenager 27 years ago. The man, who is from County Clare and cannot be named for legal reasons, is charged with 11 counts of rape, four counts of oral rape, six counts of sexual assault and four counts of indecent assault on the same female. The charges are alleged to have taken place on various dates and at various locations within County Clare between December 18, 1989 and March 31, 1992, when the complainant would have been between 12 and 14 years of age. At a sitting of Ennis District Court, Detective Garda Claire O’Shaughnessy gave evidence of arresting the man and informed the court that the accused made no reply to any of the charges after caution.
