Ordination of new Deacon in Ennis Cathedral

ANTUN Pasalic, seminarian in Ennis Parish, who is a native of Croatia, has been ordained a Deacon in the Cathedral of SS Peter & Paul Ennis. The ordaining prelate was Bishop Fintan Monahan, Bishop of Killaloe who said, “Today is a happy day and we rejoice in great delight on this occasion of the ordination of Antun as Deacon, another great milestone on his pathway to priesthood to serve in the Diocese of Killaloe. Antun was joined by his brother and his family in the Cathedral, and by his parents, brothers, and sisters, online from their home in Croatia. His Excellency, Dr Davor Vidishe, Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia in Ireland and Fr Yosep, chaplain to the Croatian community in Ireland also attended. The newly ordained Deacon will continue to minister in the Abbey Pastoral Area and reside in Ennis parish. Damian fulfils 10- year journey of faith with his ordination

TEN years ago Damian Casey set out on a journey of faith, which has led him to being ordained as a priest of the Franscican Order this weekend. His ordination will take place this Saturday at 4pm, and on Friday, April 30, the newly ordained Fr Damian will celebrate the 7.30pm mass in Ennis Cathedral. Brother Damian is currently the Deacon of the Franciscan Order and his ordination, along with his first mass on Sunday at 12 noon, is being broadcast on the internet. Damian was born in Waterford, a past pupil of Mount Sion CBS. After school his life took him on a career in teaching, ending up as Principal of Mother of Fair Love School, Kilkenny. In 2011 Damian began exploring his vocational calling and this led him to the Franciscan family. Two years late Damian came to Ennis as a novice and in September 2014 in the Friary here in Ennis he made his first profession. His …

Bishop Fintan Monahan is Ordained

The episcopal ordination has taken place of Fr Fintan Monahan, as Bishop of Killaloe at Ennis Cathedral this Sunday afternoon. The newly ordained Bishop of Killaloe was joined by his parents Tom and Peg, his sister Caitriona and brother Sean, extended family, close friends and neighbours at the celebration. Among the great many clergy present to participate and witness this event, were: Bishop Willie Walsh (Bishop of Killaloe 1994-2010); ordaining metropolitan Archbishop Kieran O’Reilly; Archbishop Charles Brown, Papal Nuncio; Archbishop Eamonn Martin Primate of All-Ireland; Archbishop Michael Neary; Fr Des Hillery, consecrating bishops, concelebrating priests. The sermon was delivered by Very Reverend Brendan Canon Kilcoyne PP of Athenry, a close friend of Bishop Monahan’s for the past 20 years. In his homily, he said “We will not be led by small men”.
