Cliffs and schools team up to spread Christmas cheer

The Cliffs of Moher Experience and two North Clare schools are continuing their Christmas tradition of sending some love to local care home residents. Pupils of Liscannor National School and Mol an Óige Steiner National School in Ennistymon are visiting the residents of St Dominic Savio Nursing Home in Liscannor and Ennistymon Community Hospital to perform Christmas carols and spread some Christmas cheer. The children of Liscannor NS children visited Liscannor Nursing Home last week, while this week children from Mol an Óige Community NS visited Ennistymon Community Hospital. “Christmas is about reaching out with compassion, staying connected and sending love to each other,” says Melanie Lennon, Sales and Marketing Manager, Cliffs of Moher Experience. “This is the third year running that we have undertaken this community initiative with the schools, and it is lovely to see both the children and the residents enjoying it so much.”  The Craft and Gift store (Shannon Heritage) and the Cliffs View Café, operated by Brambles, …

GALLERY: Cliffs of Moher and Clare schools team up to bring seasonal cheer

THE Cliffs of Moher Experience teamed up with two schools in recent days to bring some Christmas cheer to residents of local nursing homes. Pupils from Mol An Oige primary school in Ennistymon and Liscannor National School sang Christmas carols for residents of Ennistymon Community Hospital and Dominic Savio nursing home respectively. The children and their teachers sang the Christmas tunes outside the windows of the facilities to the delight of residents. They also helped deliver gifts and treats from the Cliffs of Moher Experience to the hard-working staff in both homes. Melanie Lennon, sales and marketing manager of the Cliffs of Moher Experience said the they were “delighted to organise the event”. Department recognition for Mol and Óige

MOL an Óige Steiner National School in Ennistymon was this week granted permanent recognition by the Department of Education. School principal Una Garvey told The Clare Champion that the news is a huge boost to the school, which is the first Stenier school in Ireland to receive this recognition. “It’s a complete validation of the Steiner approach and Steiner methodologies. It’s a recognition of all of the fantastic work that goes on in the school. This says that this school does wonderful work, does it in a different way but it delivers the curriculum to the children and gives them what they need,” Ms Garvey said. She also believes this development validates the Steiner approach to the public. “It puts it in the public sphere. We know what we do inside here and we know how well it works. But now it’s in the public domain that the Department of Education also recognises the good work that happens inside here,” …
