The search for missing Ennis law student, Michael Bugler has been called off after a body was recovered from the sea near Ardfry Point in Oranmore this afternoon. Gardaí say an unidentified body was spotted about 20 metres from shore by a search party looking for the missing man. Twenty year old Michael Bugler, an NUI Galway student, had not been seen since Friday, December 18 in the Quay Street area of the city. Since his disappearance, gardaí and hundreds of people have been engaged in daily searches in the Galway area for the missing student. In a post of Facebook later that evening, Michael sister Laura said the family are “relieved to finally have Michael home”. She added, “On behalf of myself, my family and Michael’s friends I’d like to thank you all for your help and support over the last three weeks. Thankfully we are so relieved to finally have Michael home today”.

A CANDLELIGHT vigil was held at Barefield parish church on St Stephen’s Day for Michael Bugler, the 20-year-old Ennis man who has gone missing in Galway. The vigil was held at the request of friends of Michael, as the search continues for the missing student. Fr Jerry Carey of Doora Barefield Parish said, “We were contacted by friends of Michael about holding the vigil and we were happy to make it possible”. Some of Michael’s family were in attendance at the event, which drew large crowds. A huge group of volunteers are continuing the search for the missing man in Galway this week. Ahead of the searches, gardaí are briefing volunteers in the grounds of Calasanctius College, Oranmore. Gardaí have launched a public appeal for information on the whereabouts of the law student, who has been missing since the early hours of Friday, December 18. Gardaí are seeking the public’s assistance in tracing the whereabouts of 20-year-old Ennis man, Michael Bugler, missing from Galway city since Friday last. Michael was last seen in the Quay Street area, Galway City on Friday night at approximately 1am. Michael is described as being 5’9″ in height, of thin build with short brown hair and blue eyes. When last seen Michael was wearing a grey coloured jumper and jeans.
