Visiting ban remains in place at UL Hospitals

UL Hospitals Group is reminding members of the public that the ban on visiting across its six hospitals remains in place. The activation of Phase 3 in lifting the Covid-19 public health restrictions will allow us to gradually increase elective activity across our sites. However, the visiting ban remains in place to reduce the risk of transmission of Covid-19 and to help protect the safety of patients and staff during the ongoing public health emergency. The visiting ban was introduced in early March at University Hospital Limerick, University Maternity Hospital Limerick, St John’s Hospital, Nenagh Hospital, Ennis Hospital and Croom Orthopaedic Hospital. The ban also applies to the Intermediate Care Facility which opened at the UL Arena on June 8. Another day without a Covid case in Clare

While 11 new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in the last 24 hours, none were detected in Clare. Consequently, it is all of 19 days since the latest person in the county was diagnosed with the virus. The Health Protection Surveillance Centre was informed that one person with Covid-19 has died and there has now been a total of 1,736 Covid-19 related deaths in Ireland. As of midnight Monday, the HPSC has been notified of 11 confirmed cases bringing to 25,473 the number of confirmed cases of the virus in Ireland. Over the past week, 24,607 tests were carried out and 116 tests were positive, giving a positivity rate of 0.5%. Covid outbreaks in a quarter of Clare nursing homes

OUTBREAKS of Covid-19 have been confirmed in a quarter of nursing homes in Clare, The Champion has learned. News of clusters in four out of the county’s 16 homes has prompted renewed calls for greater medical supervision of these facilities. There were a total of 13 nursing home clusters in the Midwest area covering Limerick, Clare and North Tippeary, according to figures from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) up to May 24. Data released by the Health Service Executive (HSE) now indicate that Clare accounts for just under one-third of these. Reacting to the figures, Deputy Michael McNamara, who is Chair of the Covid-19 Dáil Committee, has called on the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) to provide it with details of the homes it identified, at the outset of the pandemic, as being at particular risk. The Health Protection Surveillance Centre has been informed that a total of 10 people with COVID-19 have died. There have now been a total 1,497 COVID-19 related deaths in Ireland. As of 11am today the HPSC was notified of 159 new confirmed cases of COVID-19. There is now a total of 23,401 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland. The total in Clare has increased by two to 308 cases. The HSE is working to identify any contacts the patients may have had to provide them with information and advice to prevent further spread. ON Wednesday evening The Health Protection Surveillance Centre confirmed that a total of 37 people additional with Covid-19 had died. Clare has 249 confirmed cases and 1.1% of the total incidences of Covid-19 in the country. There have now been a total 1,375 COVID-19 related deaths in Ireland. As of 11am on Wednesday the HPSC had been notified of 265 new confirmed cases of COVID-19. There is now a total of 22,248 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland. Three more Covid-19 cases in Clare

With three further positive cases, Clare now has a total of 212 confirmed Covid-19 cases. However, Clare still remains one of the counties with the lowest incidences of the virus at 1.1%. The Health Protection Surveillance Centre announced this evening that a further 18 people have died from Covid-19. There have now been a total of 1,102 related deaths in Ireland from the virus.
