WATCH: Cliffs to showcase Clare crafts and food with new expo

THE best of Clare’s artisan food and crafts will enjoy a unique shop window next month at the inaugural Cliffs of Moher and Clare Retail Expo. Clare food and artisan suppliers will come together with consumers and retail buyers for the event which takes place over two days on February 19 and 20. Supported by the Clare Local Enterprise Office, Clare County Council and the Burren & Cliffs of Moher UNESCO Global Geopark, the two-day event is the biggest showcase of its kind to be held in County Clare in recent years. The Expo opens at Cliffs of Moher Experience on Sunday February 19 with a business-to-consumer event from 10am to 4pm during which local Clare artists, producers and craftspeople will exhibit their products at Ireland’s most visited natural attraction. Cliffs of Moher is named Ireland’s best visitor attraction

A PRESTIGIOUS Travel Awards has named The Cliffs of Moher Experience winner of ‘Ireland’s Best Visitor Attraction’. The County Clare visitor attraction finished ahead of Ireland’s best known tourist sites in The Irish Independent’s annual Reader Travel Awards 2023. The awards are decided by a poll of Irish and international readers of The Irish Independent and adjudication by an expert panel comprising Niall Tracey (Director of Marketing, Fáilte Ireland), Pól Ó Conghaile (Pól Ó Conghaile is Travel Editor, The Irish Independent), John and Francis Brennan (hoteliers), Roz Purcell (author & adventurer) and Katy McGuinness (food writer & restaurant critic). It is the second time that the Cliffs of Moher has picked up the overall award having previously been named ‘Ireland’s Best Visitor Attraction’ in 2019. 34,000 North Americans entered Clare tourism competition

A DIGITAL tourism marketing campaign offering a five-day getaway break to County Clare attracted more than 34,000 entries from across the United States and Canada. Hosted by the Cliffs of Moher Experience and supported by Tourism Ireland, Aer Lingus and Clare tourism operators, the ‘Epic Trip’ competition targeted the North American market and reached an audience of 3.4 million people via Cliffs of Moher Experience social media channels. The winning couple, Peggy and Daniel Haukup from Wichita in Kansas, arrived in Ireland this Tuesday. Their prize includes Aer Lingus direct scheduled return flights from the USA with AVIS car hire and a five-night stay in County Clare with attractions and activities included. “The success of this digital marketing campaign is the result of a collaborative effort involving Aer Lingus and Tourism Ireland and is evidence that an inter-agency digital marketing campaign can be very effective at capturing a wider audience,” stated Geraldine Enright, Director of the Cliffs of Moher Experience. …

Lifts of Moher prove wheelie popular at Clare’s top attraction

People with disabilities or reduced mobility can now fully enjoy everything the Cliffs of Moher Experience in County Clare has to offer courtesy of two electric buggies.  Operated by trained staff, the Burren Buggy and Wild Atlantic Shuttle provide visitors with a guided tour of Ireland’s most visited natural attraction from the viewing platforms overlooking the majestic cliffs to the iconic 19th century O’Brien’s Tower. “The Lifts of Moher are proving to be hugely popular, particularly for individuals with mobility issues, those with disabilities, the elderly, their families and carers,” explained Geraldine Enright, Director of the Cliffs of Moher Experience. Free entry for Clare residents to Cliffs of Moher up to Christmas

THE Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience is spreading a little Christmas cheer this month by providing free entry to all Clare residents up to and including December 23. Cliffs of Moher launches new interactive mobile app

A FREE interactive mobile app has been launched for those visiting or planning to visit the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience in County Clare. With free Wi-Fi available throughout the main visitor centre building and viewing platforms, visitors will be able to access a range of information about the Cliffs of Moher via their smartphone. The app also contains 13 audio tracks narrated by Conor Tallon and features contributions from people with extensive knowledge of the rich history, geology, flora and fauna of Ireland’s most visited natural attraction. ‘shock’ at €1.34 million Cliffs bus park plan

KILKEE-based tourism consultant and former chairperson of Loop Head Tourism, Cillian Murphy, has expressed “shock and disappointment” at news this week of Clare County Council’s plans to build a €1.34 million coach park at the Cliffs of Moher. “It completely reinforces our position as the pre-eminent drive-through tourism destination. It is utterly short-sighted and ties the area into a long-term policy. All over the world, tourism destinations are trying to manage capacity issues, yet Clare is bucking the trend and delivering facilities that will encourage further management issues,” he claimed. “I suggest that this money could deliver most, if not all, of a greenway between Kilrush and Kilkee, a development that would deliver social, economic and environmental benefits across the wider West Clare area.
