‘Bridge raises fifth Green Flag

Cathaoirleach of Clare County Council, John Crowe returned to his alma mater last week to unfurl the school’s fifth Green Flag. He was assisted in hoisting the flag by Aoibheann Kennedy and Emma O’Connor, members of the Green Schools Committee. For a number of years now, Sixmilebridge National School has been participating in the Green Schools initiative, which encourages schools, pupils and families to learn about waste, conservation and sustainability. Every two years or so, they explore a new theme in order to apply for the renewal of their Green Flag. The theme for this year, their fifth Green Flag, was biodiversity and, through the biodiversity theme, students learned how they can all play a big part in protecting the natural world. Two senior members of the Green Schools Committee, Saoirse Downes and Aoibhe Ward Murphy, spoke on behalf of the committee. Style showcase for Sixmilebridge school

Models from the Holman-Lee agency will showcase the latest fashions from more than 10 boutiques and shops in the Limerick, Shannon and Ennis areas at a fundraising fashion show in Bunratty next week. The event, which will also include displays in beauty and health care and a pre-show punch reception, will be held at the Bunratty Castle Hotel on Thursday next, September 18 with proceeds going to the Sixmilebridge National School Development Fund. “We are really pleased and welcome the presence of the Celia Holman-Lee Agency, the country’s leading model agency, at the upcoming show. It will be a great night of fashion and maybe there will be a few surprises to add to the enjoyment of the evening. It’s the must-go-to event for this autumn; the first winter and autumn show in the area,” according to chairperson of the fashion committee Tanya Walker.
