Shannon Garda station set for a fresh coat of paint

CLARE Fianna Fáil TD Cathal Crowe said he has secured funding to ensure that the Garda Station in Shannon is re-painted, following a number of representations from locals. After having the issue raised with him, Deputy Crowe spoke to the Minister with responsibility for the OPW to see if funding could be ringfenced to rectify the issue. “Representatives of Shannon Tidy Towns came to meet with me at one of my recent clinics in the town and outlined all the work they’re undertaking, which I think all of us can agree is fantastic,” said Deputy Crowe. “But they felt the Garda Station in the middle of the town was looking shabby and in need of a new coat of paint. “I went up to see it for myself and following this, I contacted Minister Patrick O’Donovan who has written back to confirm he has approved this and the OPW has approved funding to fully paint the station in the early …

Live Grenade Handed into Ennis Garda Station

GARDAÍ were evacuated from Ennis Garda Station for four hours this Monday morning after a live grenade found during renovation works was brought to the public office of the station. The old grenade was unearthed by workmen at a house in McNamara Park on Monday morning. They picked up the device and it was brought to Ennis Garda Station at approximately 10am. Superintendent Brendan McDonagh of Ennis Garda Station explained that “Workmen working on doing up an old house in the McNamara Park area of Ennis came across this old grenade. It was buried and while they were doing the work they unearthed this grenade. It was very old so they decided to pick it up and bring it into us here in Ennis Garda Station, which was very nice of them”. “The garda in the public office got some shock.
