One change as Clare minor footballers take on Limerick

Clare minor footballers fresh from a 4-18 to 0-4 win over Waterford in the opening round of the Munster minor football round robin series travel for a round 2 encounter with Limerick in Rathkeale this Thursday evening with a 7pm throw in. In the opening round Tipperary who face Clare in round 3 accounted for Limerick on a 1-15 to 1-8 score line next week at a Clare venue named as St Joseph’s Miltown Malbay but suggestions are that it may be Wolfe Tones, Shannon once more. The four sides, Clare, Limerick, Tipperary, and Waterford play a round robin with the winner playing the loser of a Cork v Kerry side in the semi-final. The winner of the Cork v Kerry tie plays the winner in the Munster minor final on the 1st June. Venue change for Clare minor team’s Munster opener

Clare minor footballers will play their opening game of the Championship at Wolfe Tones’ GAA Grounds. Dermot Coughlan’s charges will face Waterford on April 14. The game was initially due to be played at Hennessy Memorial Park but after last night’s Munster GAA CCC meeting, the game has now been moved. In the Munster Minor Football Championship, Clare, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford are placed in to a group of four with the top two teams progressing through to the Phase One Final. Kerry and Cork meet in the provincial semi final with the winner moving 60 minutes away from Munster glory. Meanwhile, the loser of the Cork and Kerry clash plays the team that emerges from the group of four. Seven days after hosting Waterford, Clare will travel to Mick Neville Park to face Limerick. Finally, Clare host Tipperary at Hennessy Memorial Park on April 28 with that game throwing in at 7pm. The Phase One Final is down for …

Boss aims to keep Clare momentum at minor level going

THE Munster Minor football Championship has been a happy hunting ground for Clare in recent years with the county reaching three of the last four finals, writes Ivan Smyth. They will be hoping to progress through to the provincial showpiece event once more when they come up against Limerick in the Munster Minor football Championship semi final this Friday in Cusack Park (throw in 7pm). Manager Dermot Coughlan believes the consistency that Clare have shown in this competition is down to the hard work and structures that have been put in place at underage level. “You need people who are willing to work hard. We have to prep teams right. If you look at any group they are training about three nights a week at least.
