Vaccination clinic opening at Maternity Hospital

THE UL Hospitals Group is running a Satellite COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic at University Maternity Hospital Limerick from Monday morning, September 20, to offer safe and convenient vaccination for expectant mothers attending the hospital and inpatients who wish to be vaccinated. The announcement comes as UMHL marks world Patient Safety Day today, Friday, September 17, which this year marks ‘Safe maternal and newborn care’. In line with guidance from the National Immunisation Authority that women can receive mRNA vaccines at any stage of pregnancy, clinical and midwifery directors at the maternity hospital state that the satellite clinic offers women a convenient way to keep themselves and their babies safe while COVID-19 remains prevalent in the community. Weekend Walk-in Covid-19 Vaccination Clinics Continue

Another series of scheduled walk-in Covid-19 vaccination clinics for adults, and children aged 12 and over, has been organised over the coming days. The Mid-West Covid-19 Vaccination Centres will operate in Limerick, Ennis and Nenagh over the weekend. These local clinics form part of the nationwide effort to maximise uptake for Pfizer Dose 1 and 2 and Modern Dose 2 vaccinations, and to provide easy access for those people who have received AstraZeneca Dose 1 and who now, as per national guidance, can receive the Pfizer vaccine as their second dose. On Friday, people can get Pfizer Dose 1 and 2 at Limerick Racecourse from 2 to 7pm and Treacy’s West County Hotel, Ennis from 4 to 7pm. Walk in vaccination clinics in Ennis, Limerick and Nenagh

ANOTHER series of scheduled walk-in vaccination clinics for adults and chidren aged 12 and over will take place in Ennis, Limerick and Nenagh on Saturday and Sunday. At the West County Hotel in Ennis and at Limerick Racecourse and the Abbey Court Hotel in Nenagh, people can get dose one or two of the Pfizer vaccine, or Moderna dose two, between the hours of 9am and 6pm. Anyone attending for second doses of Pfizer or Moderna should bring their vaccine record card with them, and note that for the Pfizer vaccine, a minimum of 21 days must have passed after Dose 1 before Dose 2 is administered. This should be observed also for people who have received AstraZeneca Dose 1 and who are receiving Pfizer for their second dose. Mountshannon Arts opens all channels to eager audience

AUDIENCES will make a welcome return to the Mounsthannon Arts Festival later this month, but arts enthusiasts will have to be content with staying in the open air in view of Covid-19 restrictions. Last year, key elements of the festival programme had to transfer online, on-air and to a special ‘sound sanctuary’ on the shores of Lough Derg, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Ann Marie Shine-ing light in the darkness

EVEN though Covid-19 restrictions will be substantially reduced over the coming weeks, a local mental health advocate has stressed people who are feeling isolated or depressed will still need support. Shine regional development officer, Ann Marie Flanagan has urged people to be on the look out for those who have been badly hit by the lack of proper social interaction during the pandemic. While Covid-19 has presented new challenges for people who already felt isolated, Ms Flanagan said one of the positive developments that emerged from the pandemic was how people rallied to form community response teams to bring medication and groceries to those in need. She urged people involved in Covid-19 response team to try and maintain contact with an elderly person who is isolated and let them know supports are still available.
