Vital Medical Equipment Arrives On Shannon Plane

A QATAR Airways Boeing 777 cargo plane carrying vital medical equipment from China landed at Shannon Airport on Thursday afternoon (April 2). The plane touched down at Shannon at 4.25pm. Among the medical equipment on board were ICU ventilators and hospital beds for distribution to hospitals around Ireland in the fight against COVID-19. Qatar Airways is one of the world’s largest cargo operators and has an extensive network of more than 160 destinations using both freighters and passenger flights. The airline resumed flights to China on 30th March to support the global supply chain, which includes the transportation of urgent medical relief aid essential to the global fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. Commenting on the flight Mary Considine, CEO Shannon Group, which operates Shannon Airport said: “We were delighted to facilitate the arrival of this much welcomed consignment of medical supplies. As an essential service our airport remains open to facilitate cargo and repatriation flights at this unprecedented time.”

‘Unbelievable Response’ To Ennis Hotel’s Thank You To Health Workers On The Frontline

HUNDREDS of frontline healthworkers are set to enjoy a night’s stay in Ennis following an “unbelievable response” to a local hotel’s ‘thank you’ to those leading the fight against Covid-19. Hotel Woodstock is one of five hotels as part of the Choice Hotel Group to donate a total of 1,800 free overnight stays to HSE healthcare workers in the frontline. Sean Lally owner / director of Hotel Woodstock explains that the Ennis hotel is providing approximately 360 rooms to the effort “to express our deep gratitude”. Just days after the hotel group made the announcement, the hotels were fully subscribed with Mr Lally saying “there has been an unbelievable response”. “There has been a huge reaction to this, we’ve had hundreds and hundreds of shares across social media. 17 die across country from Covid-19

The Health Protection Surveillance Centre has today been informed that 17 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 in Ireland have died. There were six new confirmed cases in Clare today, bringing the figure to 40. ·        Eight deaths were located in the east, three in the south, three in the north-west and three in the west of the country ·        Patients included four females and 13 males ·        Median age of today’s reported deaths is 84 ·        Eight patients were reported as having underlying health conditions There have now been 71 COVID-19 related deaths in Ireland. Clare Community Response Helpline goes live

A dedicated community support helpline (1890 252943) has been established in Clare County Council to assist at risk members of the public in accessing non-emergency and non-medical supports and advice during the current public health emergency.  The helpline and support email (covidsupport@clarecoco.ie) are operational seven-days-a-week from 8am to 8pm. The confidential phoneline service has been established by the new COVID-19 Clare Community Support Response Forum, which includes over a dozen agencies and organisations. The Helpline is focused primarily on ensuring that vulnerable members of the community or those living alone can access deliveries of groceries, medicine and fuels. The role of the Forum is to ensure that there is a co-ordinated community response and to enable all voluntary statutory agencies to collaborate in support of our communities and particularly of our most vulnerable members. The Health Protection Surveillance Centre has today been informed that eight patients diagnosed with COVID-19 in Ireland have died. Council give update on available services

Clare County Council says it is continuing to make public services as accessible as possible during the ongoing health crisis despite all council offices being closed to the public until further notice. The closure of office buildings came into effect following the Government’s introduction of new restrictions on Friday. “Clare County Council continues to deliver vital public services in the challenging circumstances arising from the Coronavirus emergency,” stated Pat Dowling, Chief Executive of Clare County Council on Monday. He continued, “Clare County Council staff will ensure continuity of our essential and critical services across our key operations and the Council’s Crisis Management Team will continue to meet on an ongoing basis. Covid-19 Unemployment Payment issued to 283,000

LAST Friday payments were issued in respect of 283,000 people who were awarded payment of the Covid-19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment by the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection. These payments are in addition to the 201,000 people in receipt of standard jobseeker payments as of Friday 27 March (an increase of 19,000 on the figure at the end of February). A further 25,000 wage subsidy payments were made in respect of the Employer Refund Scheme* administered by the Revenue Commissioners on behalf of the Department. All payments issued on Friday will be in customers’ bank accounts or at their local post office from tomorrow, Tuesday.  The level of payments reflects the unprecedented demand for the Department’s income supports over the past two weeks. Covid-19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment In total (since launch on March 16) the Department received and processed 389,000 applications for the Covid-19 Unemployment Payment.  This is equivalent to a 19 month claim-load in two weeks.
