SUSI applications now open

SUSI (Student Universal Support Ireland), has announced that its online application system, for new and renewal student grants, for the 2017/18 academic year is now open. SUSI is entering its sixth year of operations. Last year the national awarding body processed more than 105,000 applications with 83,000 students (new and renewal) receiving funding for the 2016/17 academic year. Graham Doyle, head of communications and customer service with SUSI,said,” would encourage students to visit our website, www.susi.ie, and review the eligibility criteria for student grant funding prior to making their applications. We have an online grant eligibility reckoner that enables students to answer a short set of questions following which they will be given an indication as to their eligibility for student grant funding. We also have a number of self-help tools available on our website, including videos and detailed guidance notes for making an application. Tulla book Munster final date

By Seamus Hayes St. Josephs, Tulla 0-12 Colaiste Chriost Ri, Cork 0-10 St. Josephs Tulla edged a step closer to the Munster colleges senior B hurling title when they accounted for Colaiste Chriost Ri, Cork in this semi-final replay at Ballyagran on Saturday afternoon. In much improved weather conditions from the previous week, the Clare side deserved their narrow win but the result was in doubt right to the final whistle. While Chriost Ri were first to score, Tulla enjoyed the better of the early exchanges and deservingly led by four points, 0-5 to 0-1, after twenty minutes. They failed to build on this, however and when the half time whistle sounded the margin was down to the minimum with Tulla 0-5 to 0-4 in front. Chriost Ri continued to pile on the pressure on the resumption and pointed twice inside five minutes to move one clear. CAO change of mind deadline looms

The Leaving Cert exams are over – highlighter-filled, dog-eared books thrown in a corner at home. So what’s to worry about? Well for most, nothing, we hope. However, for some, the worry of not having done as well as had been hoped brings up the question, should I change my CAO preferences? Since May 5, you may change your CAO course choices – without cost – as often as you wish, up to 5.15pm on Tuesday, July 1. The best time to do this, if at all, may be in a relaxed frame of mind a few days after your exams are over. Remember, however, to leave your course choices in order of genuine preference, regardless of what points you feel you may get. There are a few very valid reasons why this is important: 1. You have so many choices (10 Level 8 and 10 Level 7/6 choices) so as long as you believe your last few choices are …
