A dedicated community support helpline (1890 252943) has been established in Clare County Council to assist at risk members of the public in accessing non-emergency and non-medical supports and advice during the current public health emergency.  The helpline and support email (covidsupport@clarecoco.ie) are operational seven-days-a-week from 8am to 8pm. The confidential phoneline service has been established by the new COVID-19 Clare Community Support Response Forum, which includes over a dozen agencies and organisations. The Helpline is focused primarily on ensuring that vulnerable members of the community or those living alone can access deliveries of groceries, medicine and fuels. The role of the Forum is to ensure that there is a co-ordinated community response and to enable all voluntary statutory agencies to collaborate in support of our communities and particularly of our most vulnerable members. The Health Protection Surveillance Centre has today been informed that eight patients diagnosed with COVID-19 in Ireland have died. However no new case of Covid-19 has been reported in Clare. ·         Six deaths are located in the east, one in the south and one in the west of the country. ·        The patients included five females and three males. ·        The median age of today’s reported deaths is 86. ·        Six patients were reported as having underlying health conditions. The Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) has today been informed that 10 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 in Ireland have died, eight male and two female. This figures come as three new Covid-19 cases were confirmed in Clare. The total in this county now stands at 34. Nationally, six deaths are located in the east of the country, three in the northwest and one in the south.  The median age of today’s reported deaths is 77. There have now been 46 COVID-19 related deaths in Ireland. The Health Protection Surveillance Centre has been informed of 200 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland, as at 1pm today. THERE are currently less than five confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Clare. On Wednesday evening the Health Protection Surveillance Centre said that 74 new cases of COVID-19 had been confirmed in Ireland. The cases are made up of 29 females and 45 males: There have been two deaths associated with COVID-19 in Ireland. There are now 366 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country. The HSE is working rapidly to identify any contacts the patients may have had, to provide them with information and advice to prevent further spread. The National Public Health Emergency Team has made available an analysis of the 271 cases notified as at midnight on Monday, March 16. ·        Of the 271 cases notified 40% are male and 59% female, with 23 clusters. ·        To date 42% cases are travel related, 22% associated with community transmission, 17% are as a result of local transmission and 20% remain under investigation. · …

CLARE Marts have announced that they will not be shutting down sales, but they are introducing a number of measures due to the Corona Virus. In a statement it said, “Clare Marts Limited will operate their sales as usual until further notice. The new protocol that will be in place are as follows: “1) Limited access will only be allowed in the sales rings to people who have business to conduct there, and at all times will be restricted to less than 100 people. “2) Clare Marts would ask only people with business at the mart to attend (buyers, sellers and hauliers) during this crisis. 3) Parents are requested to keep children away from the mart at this time due to the current situation.”

ALL masses in the Diocese of Killaloe have been suspended. In a pastoral message, Bishop Fintan Monahan said, “In View of the Government Statement and the need to avoid indoor public gatherings of more than 100 people, and the difficulty of guaranteeing this in practice, following consultation I have decided as follows: All public Masses in this diocese, Sundays and weekdays are suspended until March 29 or until further notice. “The obligation to be physically present at Mass on Sundays and Holy Days (including St Patrick’s Day) is therefore suspended for everybody until further notice.” “Priests will continue to remember the needs of parishioners at Mass celebrated privately. “The faithful are encouraged to join spiritually in the celebration of Mass, either on parish radio or on web-cam. The Health Protection Surveillance Centre has today been informed of three new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland: One case, a female, in the West of the country is associated with close contact with a confirmed case.  A second case, a female, in the south of Ireland, a healthcare worker is associated with close contact with a confirmed case.  A third case, a female, is associated with close contact with a confirmed case. There are now 24 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Republic of Ireland.

The Health Protection Surveillance Centre has today been informed of a new confirmed case of COVID-19 in Ireland, a male, in the east of Ireland, associated with travel from northern Italy. There are now 19 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Ireland. The HSE is working rapidly to identify any contacts the patient may have had, to provide them with information and advice to prevent further spread. The National Public Health Emergency Team met today, to consider guidance from the Expert Advisory Group on managing healthcare workers who are close contacts of a confirmed case. This guidance was developed in light of the recent diagnosis of COVID-19 in a patient hospitalised in Cork University Hospital, which has led to a significant number of close contacts with healthcare workers.
