Revenue officials seize €80k worth of drugs at Shannon Airport

Revenue officials have seized 4kgs of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of €80,000, at Shannon Airport. The illegal drugs were concealed in a parcel that had originated from Italy and were destined for an address in Cork City. The seizure came about as a result of routine operations at the airport this Tuesday, September 6. Seperately, this Wednesday, as a result of routine profiling, Revenue officers at Rosslare Europort seized approximately 200,000 cigarettes with an estimated retail value of €150,000, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of almost €118,000. The illegal cigarettes, branded ‘Dunhill’, were discovered with the assistance of Revenue’s mobile x-ray scanner when Revenue officers stopped and searched a Bulgarian registered truck and its accompanying trailer, that had disembarked a ferry from Dunkirk, France. Cocaine seized during garda raid in Ennis

A MAN in his 20s was arrested in Ennis last Saturday in connection with a seizure of suspected cocaine. On Saturday, July 23 at 10.30am, the Divisional Drugs Unit conducted a search under warrant at a house in Ennis. During the course of this search approximately €3,000 worth of suspected Cocaine was seized. A male in his mid-20s was arrested at the scene and detained at Ennis Garda Station. This male has since been released from custody and a file is now being prepared for submission to the DPP. The suspected controlled substances have been forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis. These seizures form part of Operation Tara which is an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy. The focus of Operation Tara is to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking networks, at all levels – international, national, local – involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, local sale and supply of controlled drugs.

Man in 50s charged over Clare/Limerick drugs seizures

Gardaí in Limerick have charged the man that was detained in relation to the searches under Operation Coronation, in conjunction with Operation Tara in Clare and Limerick on Friday, May 27. The man, aged in his 50s that was detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, in Henry Street Garda Station has been charged in relation to the seizure and is due to appear before Limerick District Court this Monday morning at 10.30a.m. The female, aged in her 30s that was detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, in Henry Street Garda Station has been released without charge and a file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions. Drugs worth €643k seized after Clare and Limerick raids

Gardaí have arrested five people and seized a quantity of drugs and cash during a search operation in counties Clare and Limerick. At approximately 2.15pm, yesterday, Friday, May 27, gardaí stopped a vehicle on the Corbally Road in Co. Clare. During a search of the vehicle, Gardaí located approximately €10,000 worth of suspected cocaine. The drugs were seized and will be sent for analysis. The occupants of the vehicle, three men aged in their 20s and 40s, were arrested at the scene and taken to Henry Street Garda Station Limerick, where they are currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996. Two of these men have since been released from custody pending files to the DPP. A number of follow-up searches were conducted in Limerick yesterday evening. During the course of these searches, approximately €406,000 Cocaine, €140,000 Heroin, €45,000 Amphetamine, €42,852 Diazapam Tablets and a large sum of cash was seized by Gardaí. The exact …

Drugs worth over €1.34million seized near Clare Limerick border

DRUGS with an estimated street value of €1.34 million have been seized following searches in the Clare and Limerick border area. Gardaí attached to the Limerick Divisional Drug Unit, supported by Gardaí from Mayorstone, Regional Dog Unit and members of the Defence Forces, carried out a number of searches this friday, April 15, in Corbally and Clonlara as part of Operation Tara, targeting the distribution of controlled drugs in the Limerick area. During the course of one search, Gardaí recovered heroin, with an estimated street value, subject to analysis, of €1.34m. No persons were arrests during the course of the search and the drugs will now be forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis. A further search took place at a separate location and Gardaí seized €12,500 in cash. Man, 60, arrested over heroin seizure released without charge

A MAN in his 60s arrested in relation to the seizure of €700,000 of suspected heroin in county Clare has been released without charge. A file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions. Investigations are ongoing. As part of Operation Tara, planned searches led by the Limerick Divisional Drugs Unit assisted by local Garda units, the Regional Dog Unit and members of the Defence Forces, were conducted on lands in the Ardnacrusha area on Friday. In the course of the searches suspected heroin with an estimated value of €700k (analysis pending) was recovered.
