THE importance of cleaning up after your dog is to be underlined in a new social media campaign beginning this Wednesday. Clare County Council is teaming up with its colleagues in Cork county, Limerick and Tipperary local authorities for the campaign to combat dog litter. It will run until next Monday and take in the May bank holiday when more people than ever will be expected to be out walking their dogs. Leas Cathaoirleach of Clare County Council, Cllr Pat Burke, welcomed this social media campaign targeting the scourge of dog poo on our streets, footpaths, greens and other public spaces. HIGH-SPEED broadband, hot desk and video conferencing facilities are now available at the Michael Cusack Centre in Carron. The initiative was driven by Clare County Council, in partnership with the centre operators and the government. The Broadband Connection Point (BCP) was provided under the National Broadband Plan, and was officially opened as The Cusack Hub and Broadband Connection Point. The new digital hub facility, which is part of the local authority’s DigiClare.ie initiative, will support rural social enterprises and the wider community by providing flexible, affordable hot desks, video conferencing and printing facilities, all supported by high-speed broadband. The facilities at the hub will be made available to all members of the community who have a requirement to access these services, such as those working remotely and students who require access to third-level course material online. HE spent just 17 minutes on the field in Croke Park on September 3, 1995 and only once hit the ball. Yet that seismic Eamon Taaffe goal, four minutes from time, still resonates in Clare. It was the moment that propelled the county to a first All-Ireland win since 1914, bridging an 81-year gap.
