Call for applications for the Artists in Schools Residencies Scheme

CLARE Arts Office is inviting primary and secondary schools in Clare to submit their applications for the Artists in Schools Residencies Scheme 2021-2022. This year Clare Arts Office is awarding residencies to the value of €1,200.  The Artists in Schools Scheme was established to enable primary and secondary schools in Clare to develop projects with professional artists for the benefit of the participating students. Since then, over 300 residencies have taken place throughout the county with children participating in visual arts, music, dance, mime, drama, film and creative writing. Culture Night to showcase the best the county has to offer

CLARE’S cultural community will come together on Friday to showcase the very best the county has to offer. Clare Culture Night 2021 will see 30 free cultural events being held, with a mix of live and virtual events allowing audiences across the county and beyond to connect through culture. The myriad of events will run throughout the evening from 4pm. This year’s programme, which is organised by Clare Arts Office and funded by Clare County Council and the Arts Council, is filled with free live events across the county from Ennis to Doolin, Lissycasey to Mountshannon, Feakle to Ennistymon, and free online events. The host of virtual events will provide culture from all corners of the county and will be available to view throughout the evening. This year, artist Ana Colomer has created a unique piece for Culture Night, combining puppetry, storytelling, film and music, which was filmed in various locations around the county. Visual Voices aims to increase access to arts in Clare

A NEW series of free online art tours specifically available to people of older age in Clare has been launched by Clare Arts Office. The series, ‘Visual Voices’ has come about thanks to funding from the Creative Ireland Programme. Visual Voices links a number of projects and programmes by Clare County Council in the area of arts and health to deliver an in-depth programme of online visual arts experiences to older people who may have difficulty accessing galleries and exhibition spaces in Clare. The series is based on Age and Opportunity’s ‘Azure’ programme, which was developed in collaboration with the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA), Dublin, and inspired by the highly successful art tours ‘Meet me at MoMA’ running for many years for those living with dementia and their carers’, at New York’s Museum of Modern Art. Open air performance in glór set to be an ‘air-raising’ experience

GLÓR is continuing to put its best foot forward since reopening, with plans in place for some ‘air’ raising events in the near future. Fidget Feet Aerial Dance, in partnership with Clare Arts Office, are bringing the In the Open arts programme to Ennis with a series of outdoor events planned over the coming months. The first event will be Fidget Feet’s brand new outdoor show,  A Handful of Dreams, currently touring nationwide, which is coming to glór’s car park from August 20 to 22. Council looks to support Clare arts with new scheme

ARTISTS and performers in county Clare are being urged to avail of a support scheme to get them back to work this summer. Clare Arts Office has issued calls to support those looking to perform outdoors in the coming months, for artists looking for studio spaces and for those involved in amateur drama seeking to attend the Drama League of Ireland Summer School. The Arts Office is interested in hearing from performing artists (ensembles/bands or individuals), promoters, producers, venues, etc. to see how it can work with them to facilitate programming of outdoor live performances this summer, animating local communities, should public health considerations permit. All types of performance (music, spectacle, circus, street arts, etc.) are encouraged to apply to this scheme including small scale solo performances, unplugged presentations through to amplified concerts. A virtual treat for Culture Night 2020 in Clare

ON Friday Clare’s cultural community will come together online to celebrate a re-imagined Culture Night. This year’s Culture Night will see a myriad of cultural events held virtually across Clare throughout the evening from 4pm. The programme, which is organised by the Clare Arts Office and funded by Clare County Council and The Arts Council, is packed with more than 25 free online events from across the county from Ennis to Doolin, Kilfenora to Mountshannon, Kilrush to Ennistymon, with an input from New York. Artist Ana Colomer and storyteller Niall de Búrca have come together to produce an animated tale. Award-winning film, The Story of Johnny McGory, produced by Stray Dog Films, makes its online premiere. Theatrical company, Ballycartoon Productions, screens a segment of its new play by Dermott Petty. Clare to shine on Culture Night

Clare’s cultural community will come together on Friday, September 22 to showcase the creativity that exists within the county. Culture Night Clare 2017 will see 40 free cultural events for all ages being held throughout Clare over a 10-hour period from 1pm to 11pm. This year’s programme, which is organised by the Clare Arts Office and funded by Clare County Council and the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht is filled with free events. Arts and cultural bodies throughout Clare will throw open their doors offering members of the public a chance to enjoy unique performances and catch a glimpse inside some of the most beautiful buildings and cultural institutions in their area.
