Clare’s young scientists impressing once again

Over 1,100 school students are in Dublin’s RDS for the 59th BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition (BTYSTE). The prestigious event showcases research and innovation in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM), is in-person this year for the first time since 2020, following two successful virtual exhibitions. At the heart of the exhibition are the 550 projects from 212 schools which span the categories of Technology; Biological and Ecological Sciences; Social and Behavioural Sciences; and Chemical, Physical and Mathematical Sciences. Following judging by the 80 plus-person judging panel, the BT Young Scientist(s) & Technologist(s) of the Year 2023 will be announced at an awards ceremony on Friday at 5.30pm. Clare Students encouraged to get thinking caps on as entry deadline nears

WITH the project deadline for the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition 2023 fast approaching, students from across Clare are encouraged to get their thinking caps on and turn creative ideas into project entries by the September 26. Students can enter across any one of four categories, whether their interests lie in technology; social and behavioural science; biological and ecological science; or chemical, physical and mathematical science. An individual or group must submit a simple, one-page proposal outlining their bright idea. The 2022 exhibition winners Aditya Joshi and Aditya Kumar from Synge Street CBS, Dublin said, “We found the whole BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition experience really fun and exciting, and we think every student should enter a project in an area of science that they find intriguing.” In January, thousands of visitors are set to walk through the doors of the RDS where the brightest minds from across the island of Ireland will be showcasing their projects. President to open young scientist expo

Thousands of students will descend Dublin’s RDS tomorrow (Wednesday) as the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition begins. The event brings together some of the country’s brightest young minds as they compete to take home the coveted title of the BT Young Scientist & Technologist(s) of the Year 2018. President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins will officially open the exhibition at a special ceremony on Wednesday evening attended by students, teachers, exhibition partners and stakeholders, and presented by broadcaster Aidan Power and TG4’s Roisin Ni Thomáin. The ceremony will be streamed live on Facebookfrom 2pm. Leading communications and IT Services company, BT, has announced announced an increase in prize money for the winner and a trip to the home of code-breaking in World War II, Bletchley Park. This year winner(s) of the competition, will be announced on Friday, will be presented with a cheque for €7,500, (an increase from €5,000), a trip to the historic Bletchley Park and the BTYSTE perpetual trophy. Back to RDS for science entrepreneurs

The BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition (BTYSTE) has announced the BTYSTE Alumni Showcase, a new feature for 2017, which will see previous participants compete for the chance to exhibit their commercial ventures at the RDS in January. The competition is open to alumni of the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition or BT Young Scientist Business Bootcamp who qualified for the exhibition itself and went on to incorporate a company based on their BTYSTE project. The goal of the competition is to shine a light on the myriad of successful commercial enterprises born at the Exhibition since its beginnings in 1965, including BTYSTE-born companies like FenuHealth, Restored Hearing, betterexaminations.ie and The Duffily Bag.
