Dog seen on CCTV during break-in

A 41-year-old Scotsman who brought his dog to a burglary appeared in court this week, after he broke into The Burren Smokehouse in Lisdoonvarna and stole a credit card machine. Sean O’Neill, who is originally from Glasgow but has an address at Rooska, Lisdoonvarna, pleaded guilty to burglary at The Burren Smokehouse in Lisdoonvarna on August 2, 2017, and also to possession of cannabis at his address on August 5, 2017. At Wednesday’s sitting of Ennis District Court, Inspector Tom Kennedy outlined that O’Neill broke into the business premises by breaking a glass panel in the door. “He took a wireless machine for credit cards. That is how he was detected, because he tried to use his card in the machine later that day,” he said. Break-in at Ennistymon church

Gardaí in Ennistymon are appealing for witnesses following a break-in to the local parish church on Easter Sunday night/Easter Monday morning. The break-in was discovered at 10am on Monday morning. A number of doors were damaged and an undisclosed sum of money was stolen from the Trocáire and Easter collections, which were in a safe in the sacristy. This the second second break-in to a church in Clare in just over a week, but Inspector Paul Slattery of Kilrush Garda Station said he he doesn’t believe the incidents are connected. Killaloe gardai seek public’s assistance

Gardai in Killaloe are looking for the help of the public in trying to identify three males who were seen near a house in Clonlara which was broken into and an assortment of jewellery was stolen. The break-in occurred between 3pm and 4.55pm on Tuesday of last week at a house in Kildooras. One of males believed to be in his 20s was wearing a royal blue jacket while a second, in his 30s, was wearing a Northface jacket. The third was a young man in his teens. A second house nearby was also tried but no entry was gained. The jewellery stolen included two gold braclets, a 30” chain and pendant, a 24” gold chain, an 18” gold chain, an 18ct gold and diamond pendant, a gold woven bangle, a gold tie pin, a gold cameo pendant and chain, a gold and emerald pendant, a gold chain, gold cuff links and a gold charm bracelet.
