Restaurant owner’s screams scare off knife-wielding thief

THE proprietor of a Shannon Chinese restaurant has described how she saw off an armed robber who paid an unwelcome visit. Cindy Lin was seated behind the counter at her restaurant on the night of Saturday, April 17, when the would-be robber made his move at around 10.10pm. “At that time there were no customers here, no orders. I was sitting at the back of the counter, playing with my phone. A young boy came running in, he had a knife and he said ‘give me your f***ing money’ and I saw the knife. I was screaming loud, trying to call the chef in the kitchen. He dropped the knife, I think maybe he was scared too, this was a young boy.” She ran from the scene, while the robber picked up the knife and took off. Restaurant staff see off armed robber

STAFF members of a Chinese restaurant in Shannon bravely challenged a robber carrying a knife, who then fled the scene empty handed. At approximately 10pm on Saturday night, April 17 a teenager wearing a black hoody, black face mask and carrying a knife entered the Shannon Palace Chinese Restaurant in Tullyvarraga, Shannon. He demanded money from the staff member, who ran to the back of the restaurant. According to Crime Prevention Officer, Sergeant Triona Brooks, “This male was challenged by other members of staff and left the scene empty handed. Thankfully nobody was injured in this robbery. “We are asking for the assistance of the public in this investigation. If anyone was in the vicinity of the restaurant and saw this male or anyone who may have dash cam footage please contact Shannon Garda Station on 061 365900.”

Gardai investigate Connolly armed robbery

GARDAI are investigating an armed robbery which occurred in Connolly on Thursday afternoon. A man armed with a knife entered a shop from which he took a sum of cash and cigarettes. A car was subsequently stolen from a local house and it was recovered on Friday. It is thought the incident may be linked to an attempted robbery at an Ennis petrol station on the same day.
