Getting the right swimsuit for your body not only looks great but also increases confidence. The idea, as always, is to accentuate assets and conceal anything else.
Generally, a one-piece suit is a winner. If you think you will be swimming, it is certainly a lot more reassuring than the more minute pieces designed for soaking up the sun.

Small bust
Having a small bust can be very advantageous when it comes to revealing bikinis.
Triangle-shaped cups are really only possible for women with small busts.
They, along with tie-front features are ideal for adding shape to a small bust.
Bandeau dresses are hugely popular and bandeau bikinis can look amazing, especially on women with smaller busts.
Lots of bikini tops now have padding but it is vital to opt for a good cut to keep the padding unnoticed.
Ruffles are also very flattering on a small bust.

Large bust
The importance of support cannot be over emphasised. Lots of one pieces and bikini tops now come with bra-style support, which when combined with wide straps looks good and offers adequate support.
Halter-top bikinis look good on most people. They give shape to smaller busts and give great cleavage to those at the other end of the scale. With a thick band underneath, they are ideal for women with big busts.
As with all clothes, V necklines always look good, flattering a large bust.
Avoid horizontal stripes as they widen.

Pear shape
Finally there is an opportunity for women with a pear shape to really shine. Go for separates. Have fun with the top, go for eye catching colours and patterns.
In terms of the bottoms, go for something a bit more muted. Try mini-skirted bottoms but avoid the frilly ones – go for something that skims along the curves.
High-cut bottoms lengthen the leg and are great for women who are larger in the hip and bum area.
Stay away from details that might draw attention to the bottom – avoid shorts, skimpy bottoms and details at the hips.
An excellent, on-trend option is to go nautical, with red and white horizontal stripes on the top and plain navy high-leg bottoms.

Plus size
The days of unflattering swimwear are over. There are styles out there for everyone.
Dark colours are always slimming but this doesn’t mean exclusively navy and black. Dark reds, purples, greens and blues are all just as good and offer greater variety in terms of complementing skintone and reflecting the brighter summer weather.
Bikinis and one-pieces are both viable options but again go for ones that offer some support.
One pieces are great and can be very sexy. A strapless swimsuit with a straight neckline is one option that looks good and disguises large busts.
There are also a vast selection of control swimsuits, including very sexy wrap-around styles.
For those who carry their weight around the tummy, tankinis might offer the answer. Go for one that fits at the bust but is loose at the stomach. These are great for concealing weight at the tummy.

Athletic
Belted swimsuits add waist definition, while one-piece swimsuits with cut outs at the sides create the illusion of curves.
For those with narrow hips, bottoms in light colours look good, while horizontal stripes have a widening affect.

Hourglass
Women with hour-glass figures are blessed with an abundance of choice. Almost any style suits this particular shape. Show it off with a two-piece, draw attention to it with a vibrant print and accentuate it with a belt at the waist.

No matter what body shape you have, the golden rule in swimwear is to wear something you feel confident and comfortable in.
