Clare Ladies Football County Board are hosting a webinar on Wednesday March 8 titled ‘Becoming a Better Coach’.

Speakers on the night will include current Dublin Ladies Football manager and former Clare football coach Mick Bohan, former All Ireland Cork player Valerie Mulcahy and Clare’s newly appointed Ladies Football manager Evan Talty of Kilmurry Ibrickane.

According to County Board Chairman Sean Lenihan, “This event will be of interest to many people for different reasons. We have an excellent line up of speakers each bringing their own unique wisdom and experience to the event. Mick Bohan has a long history of coaching teams including the Dublin U21 and Senior GAA Teams, DCU Sigerson Teams and more recently as a 4 in a row winning Manager of the Dublin Ladies. He is a great friend to Clare GAA having being a Coach with Colm Collins some years back and we are delighted to have Mick share the benefit of his experience.

He continued: “Our second presenter, Valerie Mulcahy needs no introduction. She is a 10 time All Ireland Winner with the Cork Ladies and has more recently moved into Coaching with TG4s The Underdogs and more recently with Dublins Balllyboden St Endas Ladies Football Team. Valerie can give her insight from both sides of the table in terms of her experiences both as an elite player and a Coach. Our final speaker is our own Manager, Evan Talty. Evan has had a long and distinguished playing career and has many innovative ideas from his experience of moving into both Club and County management in recent years”.

Lenihan outlined that the webinar is already attracting huge attention and praised the work going on the in background while on field activity is currently stalled.

“Given the uncertainty of when we get back on to the field of play, it is important that we keep focused on our games, our development and our players. Ordinarily, anyone involved in sport is flat out with training, matches, meetings, planning, organising, etc so it is great to be able to use this downtime productively by having webinars such as this and put in place measures that will benefit Clare Ladies football in the longer term. The County Board are committed to doing all we can to help and promote Ladies Football in Clare across all levels. We have hardworking committees looking at Development, Gradings, Fixtures and Finance since our AGM in December and we will be ready to hit the ground running once permitted and safe to do so. In the meantime, we are delighted to be able to offer this webinar and have a number of other equally exciting events in the planning also” he said.

Registration for the event can be obtained through the Clare LGFA social media channels.
