St Flannan’s 3-17 Thurles CBS 1-13

A tremendous second half performance saw St Flannan’s move closer to a place in the knock-out stage of the Harty Cup with this merited win over the 2009 winners Thurles CBS at Nenagh on Wednesday.
Trailing by a point at the interval, 0-8 to 0-9 the Ennis school stepped up a gear for the second half to score a merited win.
Two early second half goals from Cathal Doohan and Conor O’Gorman gave them the upperhand and a third goal followed from a Tony Kelly penalty to put the blues in a strong position.

Lack of scoring power costly for St Caimin’s

Templemore CBS 2-19 St Caimin’s 2-13

Aaron Cunningham scored all but a point of his side’s tally in this tie played at Claughaun GAA grounds on Wednesday but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Shannon side from losing.
While 2-13 is a good tally, it was the Shannon side’s lack of scoring power that cost them. Apart from Cunningham, who scored 1-10 from frees, the team lacked scorers.
The Shannon side led by four points at half-time when the score was 1-9 to 0-8.
Midway through the second half, Templemore struck for two goals in quick succession that turned the game in their favour.
The result means that St Caimin’s must win their final game in the group, against Charleville CBS, if they are to have a chance of progressing to the play offs.

St Caimin’s: Ronan McCauley (Sixmilebridge); John Mulready (do), Niall O’Connor (Newmarket), Brian Carey (Sixmilebridge); Shane Kelleher (Newmarket), Frank Melody (do), Shane O’Leary (Cratloe); Kevin McCafferty (Wolfe Tones), Craig O’Brien (do); Sean Lynch (Sixmilebridge), Aaron Cunningham (Wolfe Tones), Shane Liddy (Newmarket); Shane Gleeson (Cratloe), Alan Mulready (Sixmilebridge), David Collins (Cratloe).

Champions qualify

Title holders Ard Scoil Rís have secured their place in the quarter finals following a 2-19 to 2-14 win over St Colman’s at Charleville. In the opening round they had an easy 3-23 to 0-7 win over Waterford Colleges.
Four Clare players helped the Limerick side to their latest win.
Parteen’s Martin Moroney, a member of last year’s side, excelled at wing-back. Meelick’s Oisin Hickey who lined out at corner-forward, scored an excellent goal at the start of the second half while Sixmilebridge player, Jamie Shanahan, also a member of last year’s winning side, was excellent at midfield. Parteen’s David Moloney was introduced during the course of the game
