It’s full steam ahead with arrangements for the annual Ruan gymkhana and vintage show and drive scheduled for Sunday, June 12.
At the launch of Ruan Gymkhana were: PJ McNulty, chairman, with “Hootch”; Martin Forde, secretary, with “Mistletoe”; Kieran O’Connor, treasurer; Brendan McMahon, head of vintage and Michael O’Loughlin, committee member with Alan McNMulty going over the jump. However, three years ago local vintage vehicle enthusiast, Brendan McMahon proposed a vintage show to coincide with the gymkhana competitions and this format of the show has proved to be a success with up to 100 exhibitors turning up last year.
This year, the gymkhana and local vintage club have yet again teamed together to present a host of activities. Already the vintage club has received calls from vintage enthusiasts from many counties who have indicated their intention to showcase their vehicles this weekend in Ruan.
On the day there will be a host of vintage tractors, vintage cars, stationary engines and vintage memorabilia on show. This year the vintage club has introduced a five mile vintage drive around the parish of Ruan and this will take place at 3pm. Food and beverages will be available and there will be a bouncy castle for the more active visitors on the day.
Gates will open at approximately 8am for all vintage vehicles and horse transporters. The show jumping competition classes will be for U-8, U-10 and up to 1.2 metres and further information on the competitions is available from PJ McNulty on 086 6087914 or Martin Forde on 086 8350325.
The vintage show will commence at 12 noon. All vintage owners are asked to arrive as early as possible to showcase their respective vehicles. For information on the vintage show contact Brendan McMahon on 087 2612134 or Kevin Finucane on 086 4098362.
