ST Senan’s took on last year’s league winners Richmond, who are currently in second place behind Cashel, in a first division league tie on Sunday.

While Senan’s were well beaten in the end, the scoreboard did not give a true reflection of a very spirited display by the Shannon side.
Richmond scored two tries in the last couple of minutes. It took 20 minutes for the first score to come. Richmond stole a Senan’s line-out and moved the ball across the field for Jeff McNamara to score in the corner.
Another turnover ball at the end of the first half and some nice interplay between the backs led to scrum-half Mossy O’Connor going over for their second try just before half-time to leave them leading 10-0 at the break. Ten minutes into the second half, they went further ahead when Garret O’Hanlon got over for a try. St Senan’s didn’t hang the heads and fought very hard for a score and spent almost 10 minutes camped on the Richmond line before eventually Ger McNamara put Brian Collins in the clear to score a good try under the posts. McNamara converted to give the home side some hope.
However, Richmond finished the stronger to run out easy winners in the end. This defeat puts Senan’s in the relegation zone and they need to win at least two of their remaining matches if they are to have any hope of survival. This week, St Senan’s travel to play Kilfeackle in the league.
St Senan’s: Davy Dunne, Ger McNamara, Dylan Sonneman, Brian Collins, Barry Murphy, Declan Collins, Darragh McCoy, Pa Ryan, Fergal Lawlor, Tim Larkin, Aaron Skerritt, Aidan O’Callaghan, Duane Horkin, Paul O’Halloran, Mick O’Connell.
Subs: Ger Hall for O’Connell.

Newport    13

Ennis         9

BRYAN Murphy kicked all of Ennis’ points in Sunday’s league clash with Newport but it wasn’t enough to save his team from going down. Ennis will be hoping for better luck this week when they entertain Castleisland in a league tie.

Game postponed

SCARIFF’S game with Corca Dhuibhne, due to be played in Dingle, was cancelled due to an unplayable pitch.
This week, the East Clare side will have a home tie against Abbeyfeale and victory here will keep them very much in contention for promotion.
Kilrush are also due to have a home league tie this week with Corca Dhuibhne from West Kerry as their visitors.
