Race for Munster Junior Cup begins

THE race for the Munster Junior Cup gets underway this weekend and three Clare clubs will be in action.

Ennis, Kilrush and Scariff will all have home advantage when they entertain Nenagh Ormond, Dungarvan and Corca Dhuibhne respectively. All games will be at 3pm and there will be extra time, if required.
Scariff, who are flying high in Division 3 of the junior league, will face a Dingle outfit that they are due to meet again in the next round of the league early in the new year. They will travel to the West Kerry venue.
This promises to be a lively and close fought affair, which should see little between the sides at the final whistle. The prize for the winners is an away date with Douglas or Shandon in the next round on January 9.
Kilrush will need to show an improvement on recent form if they are to get back to winning ways when they welcome Dungarvan to Monmore. The winners of the tie will be away to Fermoy or Killorglin on January 9.
Ennis, who have been showing some good form in recent league outings, face a difficult test when they take on Nenagh Ormond, who have been competing in the AIL. The experienced North Tipperary side will carry the favourites’ tag into the game, the winners of which will have a home date on January 9 in the next round against Shannon or Kanturk.
St Senan’s will be in action in Division 1 of the Munster Junior League on Sunday when they will have Cashel as visitors to Jim Slattery Park in Shannon.
Kilrush will host Ennis in the U-14 league on Sunday at 11.30am. In the U-17 league, St Senan’s will travel to play Bruff, while Scariff will have home advantage against Young Munsters. At U-19 level, Scariff will have Ennis as visitors for a league tie.
