Puppy Oaks win for Dalcash Dvinsky

Everything went according to plan for Miltown Malbay native and Rockwell College Jack Meade at Shelbourne Park last Saturday night when his Dalcash Dvinsky won the final of the Olympic Bee Puppy Oaks.

Going on form, the daughter of Ace Hi Rumble-Dalcash Diva was the one to beat in the final, especially after her impressive run the previous weekend. However, she drifted in the market and went to traps a 9/4 chance.
The trap five runner, Muingwee Girl, handled by Ian Reilly went off the 7/4 favourite. First to show in the final was the trap three runner, Tracys Wildberry, who led Dalcash Dvinsky (trap four) to the opening bend followed by Triangle Beyonce in one.
The eventual winner did not make her move until down the back where she made up ground to overtake Tracys Wildberry at the third. She led from here to line to win the final by two lengths in 28.75. On the run home, Muingwee Girl was in second place but she was caught on the line by the fast-finishing Air Force Ellie, trained by Paul Hennessy.
Another Miltown Malbay native, Sean Cleary, Dublin, had his Side Plate in trap three in an A1-graded 525 but he was headed near the line and beaten three parts of a length into second place by the Bantry-owned Flying Wonder, who clocked 28.82 for the trip.
The Shelbourne card also featured three semi-finals of the Jackpots Open 525 and the Quin-owned Hurry on Black just failed to qualify for the final when finishing third in heat one.
Sarah Burke from Miltown Malbay was the only Clare winner in Limerick last Saturday night. Her Malbay Alex (Ace Hi Rumble-Malbay Lark) was making her debut and she marked it with an impressive 28.62 win in heat three of an A5-graded 525. Her winning distance was four lengths.
Boundary Dispute, owned by Frankie Sheehan, Ennis, just missed out in an A7-graded 625 when beaten a short head by Rickys Pride, the 29.70 winner.
Finishing in third place in their races were Nells Fantasy (Helen O’Brien and Michael Mahony, Miltown Malbay) and Pinnacle Muffin (Douglas Culligan and Michael Costelloe, Ballyvaughan).
There were two Clare winners at the same venue last Thursday night. Egg Run (Honcho Classic-Killonaghan Lady) trained by Denis O’Malley for Dominic Lipper and Pat O’Donoghue, Fanore, was a 29.35 and four lengths winner of an A4-graded 525.
West Clare owner, Joe Behan, took the following race, an A5-graded 525, with the Bernard Torkington-trained Concrete Express (Tucks Mein-Ollys Fern). He was a six-length winner with a time of 29.57.
Another Clare owned runner, Kafulle, owned by Niamh Quinn, was runner-up to the Monemore Nikki, the four lengths and 17.19 winner of an S7-graded 300-yard race.
