A POST box at Ballycalla, Newmarket-on-Fergus is out of service after a little bird took up residence in it.
The bird is due to lay eggs soon and the post box is just outside Anna O’Connor’s house. She said an intrepid local postal worker had protected the birds.
“The postman told us about it, it was about two weeks ago, and he put up a notice to say there was a bird nesting on the post box.”
Local children are looking forward to seeing the chicks, she said.
“Oh, they’re very excited altogether. They’re waiting impatiently for the bird and the little ones to appear,” she said.
While local people have to go a little further with their post, they’re happy to do it for the birds sake.
