Ennis gardaí are investigating a petrol bomb attack on a local authority house in Ballinruan, four miles from Crusheen village, in the early hours of last Saturday morning.

Gardaí and the fire service were called to the scene after Bernard Hassett, who lives in the house concerned, contacted the emergency services.
The occupant, who is a pensioner, has lived in the one bedroom house for four years. Approximately €1,900 worth of damage was caused to his 2008 Honda Civic, while windows in the house were also damaged at a cost of €290.
“I was in bed when I head the dogs barking and then I heard an unmerciful bang. The petrol bomb was thrown at the back of the car,” Mr Hassett explained. “That took fire and it damaged it,” he added.
Mr Hassett says some windows in the house were broken by bricks. The incident occurred at approximately 2.50am.
“I discovered that a brick was after being thrown in my front double glazed window. I have been up until 4am every morning since watching. These things shouldn’t happen. I’ve got very little sleep since,” he stated.
