Penalty secures points for Corofin

AN injury-time penalty led to the only goal in the tie on Sunday. Turnpike’s full-back, James Keane, was penalised for handling a cross and he was shown a red card. Just before that, Gordon Hogan from Corofin was sent off. Willie Treacy converted from the spot to give Harps the points.

Tulla United A scored their fourth home win in-a-row when they proved too strong for Hermitage A on Sunday.
Keith Lenihan put the winners in front midway through the first half but Hermitage hit back and levelled through Eoin O’Loughlin.
A Seosamh O’Loughlin strike from a free put the winners back in front following a goalkeeping error before half-time and they added another midway through the second half, when Ger Hanrahan found the target after good work by Keith Lenihan.

Mountshannon levelled 10 minutes into the second half through John Moloney. Jason Horan made a few good saves to deny Avenue, who created the greater number of chances on the day.

With weather conditions hampering travel, Ennistymon were forced to play the early stages of this game with only eight players. They survived this and when up to their full complement had the better of the first half, which ended scoreless. Indeed, on the day, both sides created opportunities but failed to convert these into scores. With 10 minutes to go, Kilrush scored through Terry Herlihy, who beat three defenders and it looked as if this strike would win the day. However, Sporting levelled five minutes later, when Eoin Brennan headed home from a corner kick.
