O’Curry’s aim to regain senior status next season


In his address to members at the annual general meeting of O’Currys GAA club last week, chairman, Michael Curtin thanked all involved, the officers, the juvenile committee who look after under-age, from U-8s to minor, the senior and junior B management teams for their work.  
The upgrading of the field and the provision of new dressing rooms was one of the great achievements of the year and he thanked all involved, particularly Michael McMahon. He stated that while it was disappointing to be relegated, there is now a new challenge for the club to regain senior status and all must work together to achieve this objective.
Secretary Margaret Keane, in a comprehensive report, gave a breakdown of events both on and off the field for 2010.   She stated that while it was disappointing to be relegated this year, 2011 should be approached with renewed vigour to get promoted back up to senior.
She congratulated the junior B team on winning the Division 7 title, paid tribute to John O’Looney and his committee for the Trojan work put in with regard to the football field and said that the highlight of the year was Lá Na gClub, which was most successful and she thanked all involved.
Treasurers Dinny McMahon and Mary Lynch presented a comprehensive financial report.  Dinny highlighted the cost of running a club.   He thanked those involved in the various fundraising activities and particularly those involved in organising the triathlon, which was a resounding success.  
He paid tribute to his fellow treasurer, Mary Lynch, and his assistant treasurer, Ann Carmody, Weaver for their help throughout the year.
Patron, Fr Pat Culligan addressed the meeting and encouraged all parish participation in the club and in the promotion of Gaelic games.   In the playing of Gaelic football, he stated that it was a very simple game made complicated by the over elaboration of the skills during training.

Ladies AGM

The annual convention of the Clare Ladies Football Board will be held on Monday, January 17 at the West County Hotel at 7.30pm.
