New underage role for Reynolds

Clooney-Quin club member Sandra Reynolds, the current county board youth officer, is the new secretary of the underage hurling board.
At a meeting of the board at the Auburn Lodge Hotel on Monday night, she was the only nominee for the post and succeeds Rosaleen Monaghan from Tubber, who stepped down from the position at the recent bord convention.
Sandra served as treasurer for two years and secretary  for three years with her club prior to her election as the county’s youth officer two years ago.
“It’s a difficult task to succeed Rosaleen [Monaghan] but I am looking forward to the role”, she told The Clare Champion. “There are a number of structures meetings scheduled for this week, after which the competition programme for the year will be put in place,” she added.
Her fellow Clooney-Quin club member, John Culligan, is the board’s assistant secretary, having been appointed to the position at the adjourned convention two weeks ago.
Clarecastle’s Tommy Hegarty, who is secretary of the Clare Handball Board, was elected as assistant treasurer of the board at this week’s meeting.
The meeting failed to fill the positions of treasurer and vice-chairman at this week’s meeting and the search is continuing for candidates for these posts.
The next meeting of the board will be held on Thursday, February 3, at the Auburn Lodge Hotel at 8pm to deal with club gradings in all competitions for the coming season.
