BALLYNACALLY native, Susan Murphy has been appointed as the new general manager of Clare FM. Susan, who is the daughter of the late Pat-Joe and Anne Murphy of Ballycorick, has been with the award-winning radio station for the last 16 years.
Having worked as sales and marketing manager for eight years, she was previously the head of operations at the station. Management changes also include a move for managing director, Liam O’Shea who will now take up the position of executive chairman.
Commenting on the announcements Mr O’Shea said,
“I and the board of directors of Clare FM are delighted on the appointment of Susan to the position of general manager of the company. She is a highly respected figure in the media industry having served on the board of IRS in Dublin for many years and is currently on the PPI radio awards committee. She is well known within the county and brings many years of experience to the role.
Describing Susan’s energy and enthusiasm as legendary, Mr O’Shea said, “I am very confident that she will drive Clare FM forward into the future.  My new role will be to lead the board and strategically drive the company forward.”
Susan said she is thrilled and honoured at the appointment. “I have been very fortunate to have worked under the leadership of the late Michael Evans who was responsible for giving me an opportunity to work in the station and was always a wonderful mentor and to have the guidance of Liam O’Shea, who has been instrumental in the turning around the fortunes of the station over the last 10 years. I look forward to all the many challenges that working in local radio brings on an almost daily basis. I am extremely fortunate to work with such a dedicated and talented group of people and I very much look forward to helping to shape the future of the station as we go forward,” she said.
