Music festival for Kilfenora

THE North Clare village of Kilfenora is to come to life next month with the Kilfenora Music Festival, which will take place from April 15-19.
The main events in this year’s festival are a céilí with the Kilfenora Céilí Band in the village hall that past members helped to build in 1954; a céilí with music by Four Courts Band will take place in Vaughan’s Barn; the Abbey Céilí Band will perform at a benefit for nursing in Rwanda and there will be a Sunday matinée céilí with the Star of Munster, as well as singing and instrumental sessions in the village pubs throughout the weekend.
A concert featuring local talent including Tommy and Siobhan Peoples, the band Moher, the Aibhin Holden School of Dancing and various All-Ireland winners in different disciplines will also take place.
Sean-nós extravaganza Fuaim Chonamara, featuring song, tunes, story-telling and dancing by the Cunningham family will also perform as part of the festival.
Advance tickets for the Fuaim Chonamara show are available from Kilfenora outlets including the post office, Linnane’s,  Vaughan’s and Nagle’s pubs. Tickets for the concert, Kilfenora Céilí Band and Star of Munster céilís are available on the night at venues.
