More than 500 caught by mobile speed cameras

FIVE hundred and thirty-nine motorists have fallen foul of speed cameras on Clare roads since the Go-Safe mobile safety cameras wheeled into operation in the county last November.

The cameras came into operation at midnight on Monday, November 15 and up to March 8, a total of 539 fixed charge notices, which includes the imposition of penalty points, have been issued in the Clare division for speeding offences.
The Minister for Justice and Law Reform, Alan Shatter has advised Clare County Council that these statistics are not compiled in such a way as to distinguish between garda and Go-Safe enforcement activity and the figure “is accumulative”.
