McNamara says he defied all expectations

Labour’s Michael McNamara has acknowledged he defied all expectations by taking the second seat in the Clare constituency.

“Up to today I wouldn’t have expected to come second. I predicted in The Clare Champion coming third and that was cheeky!” he joked.
