Maeve hits the right notes with Riverdance troupe

LISCANNOR singer Maeve Curry made a very high profile debut in Riverdance recently when she performed as lead vocalist at the special performance for Michelle Obama and her daughters in Dublin’s Gaiety Theatre.

Maeve was preparing to join Riverdance for the very first time when it opened for its summer season at the Gaiety but was asked to perform in this special event ahead of the official opening night.

“It’s a dream come true for me to perform Riverdance,” Maeve said.
Soloist Maeve graduated from University College Cork in 2009 and holds an honours degree in Civil Law. She has performed extensively as an actress and singer, both nationally and throughout Europe.
Recent credits include the title role of Snow White in Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs and Baroness Elderfeld in The Sound of Music, both performed in Cork Opera House, and two European tours with the Wilde Shamrock Touring Theatre Company.

Maeve is now performing for the remainder of the summer with Riverdance as it celebrates its tenth consecutive summer season at the Gaiety Theatre.
Composed by Bill Whelan, produced by Moya Doherty and directed by John McColgan, it is 18 years since its premiere in Dublin in 1995. The show has since been experienced live by over 23 million people across six continents and boasts a worldwide television audience in excess of two billion people.

Last year the show toured for the first time in South America, creating a new fan base in Brazil and Argentina and completed its sixth and most extensive tour of China, playing 25 cities over 12 weeks.
2014 will see Riverdance return to Europe and to the UK after an absence of  nearly four years and plans are in place  for a trail-blazing 60-city tour of China, the most extensive tour ever to be undertaken by any western performance company in that country.
